Mat Jenin tells of a young boy that spends most of his time lazing around daydreaming. One day, the village chief asks him to fetch a few coconuts from the tree. As he was climbing, his mind was drowned by his state of reverie. He dreams of impressing the chief by delivering the coconuts, and gained his daughter’s hand in marriage. However, other versions of this tale then embellishes that he also daydreams of becoming the Sultan’s fruitbearer. But as he was too busy daydreaming, he lost his grip on the trunk high on the tree, and he fell into his death.
